Another book fanart illustration catastrophe! Exciting.

Willy Silver, the guitarist (and a little more) from War for the Oaks (Emma Bull). He’s meant to have a streak of white hair, green eyes, and be dressed head to toe in leather when we first see him. Aka HELLOOO NURSE, etc. I happen to be fairly adept at drawing pretty-boys, so this drawing was definitely in my comfort zone.

(Done in photoshop using these neat brushes that really mimic pencil/graphite quite well.)

This is an original character – or some iteration of one. His name is Mir and while you can’t really tell by his posture here, he is built/quite athletic! He’s also really enthused and in awe of like, the world. I’m trying not to make him a man-child, but this was a doodle that I mostly wanted to use to convey my OWN amazement, so that’s my reasoning there. It’s also like, 1:30 AM and I really am just posting this because I said I would post every day. So ignore my babble and please enjoy his glee.

I’m so serious about that updating thing. See! Here I am! Posting things! These were done in August. They are characters from George R R Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series. I was probably reading Storm of Swords or Clash of Kings at that point. I mix up the book titles a heck of a lot, for someone who has actually read them. Shh, don’t tell.

Lord Snow. I wish I got Ghost in, but I kind of just wanted to see how I’d draw his face. Next time! This one was done with Photoshop in about an hour or so.

Daenerys Targaryen. Giving a total bitchface, but hey, she’s Khaleesi, gosh darn it, and she has to suspect your motives if she wants to ~survive~. It is known, yo. Next time I draw her there will be more braids and a dragon. Sketched in Painter.

And just as a silly thing, here’s a doll maker I was playing around with — rather than make my own Princess I made Dany for fun. Beware, for you too may spend the rest of your day on that website making them.

I mean it. I’m going to update it every day for a week. A WEEK! STARTING TODAY! With stuff I’ve drawn since my last update, which was painfully long ago.

Here’s the first one. I drew my friend Ronnie in April. He’s immensely talented and kept leaving fun songs on our friends’ facebook walls for their birthdays, so I figured I’d make him something using my own “skills” (ha). I bet he can rock a skinny tie in real life, too.

It's Ronnie, y'all.

Voila, an illustration I promised my friend Jae many a month ago, featuring Heero Yuy. It had been at least four or five years since I’d drawn Heero. The obsessive Gundam Wing fangirl within could never forget that hair, though, so I pretty much worked from memory and all was good. This is one version with a little bit of a dreamy blur going on just because I felt like using filters. Jae, you’re welcome to share all the versions I sent you wherever you choose :) .

A very silly thing I made Nagler for his birthday. Michael gave me the idea. I kinda sorta went with it. Woo!

This is Barquiel. He’s a character in Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Legacy books. He’s a snarky bastard. I’m not sure blue is really his color, but the magic of ~digital coloring~ is that I can always go back, I guess. Stupid Courcel Blue.

Sidonie from Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel Series.

Ehh, I got bored tonight and wanted to experiment with coloring again. I can never quite pick the colors I want.

Yeah, not funny.

Umm, we’ll see who he is. He’s based on a man I merely glimpsed at while I was in Brighton a few months ago. He was standing outside a bookstore looking perfectly happy and content with life. Then I drew him and it was nice. Then I inked the pencil sketch and he ended up looking a lot more dangerous than I intended him to look. Oh my!

not to be confused with gary oldman, obviously

This is a sketch of an old man I saw on the bus in Grenoble in late May/early June. It’s more accurate than is really polite (he really was wearing slippers and had mutant-caterpillar-Martin Scorsese eyebrows). He was too incredible looking not to draw.
